The 23-year-old Black Cats midfielder was involved in a boat crash, and showed his heroism by saving three passengers from drowning
The 23-year-old was in the Caribbean as part of his recovery from injury, where the speedboat he was on collided with a catamaran. The boat collided with Watmore's, splitting it in two and putting the lives of its passengers in danger.

Along with the speedboat's captain, Watmore came to the rescue of three pensioners, pulling them to safety while the boat was sinking into the water.
One of the people Watmore saved described the incident, saying that the could have died if it were not for Watmore's heroism.
"It was scary, life or death. I'm lucky not to be coming back in a box," they told Sky News.
"The catamaran was travelling at speed. We assumed it would see us and change course, but it then got closer.
"The next thing we knew it had ploughed straight through the boat. It broke the boat in half. Everyone was sent flying into the water."
Watmore is currently sidelined for Sunderland, having been ruled out for the season with a cruciate ligament injury.
