Arsenal are expected to give an update on Alexis Sanchez on Wednesday
Arsene Wenger continues to
stress Alexis Sanchez will remain at Arsenal beyond this summer and
hopes he, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil all sign new contracts.
Sanchez has just 12 months left on his Arsenal contract, but
manager Wenger has been adamant the club have made a decision not to
sell the 28-year-old and will stick to that beyond the deadline.Ozil and Chamberlain are also inside the last 12 months of their contracts and have been involved in talks over extensions, but Chamberlain is also understood to be a target for Chelsea in the final weeks of the window.
Arsene Wenger still hopes Mesut Ozil will commit his future to Arsenal
Ahead
of Wenger's pre-match press conference on Wednesday, in which Arsenal
say he will give an update on Sanchez, the Frenchman told Bein Sports: "Of course (I stand by the fact Sanchez won't leave)."It's difficult to say (players are getting) 'power back'. I just think it looks unusual to the media sometimes that clubs want contracts to be respected. For me, it looks logical so I am amazed that you are amazed because it looks normal.
"If I sign a contract, I respect it. Of course if a club releases me it's normal that I can go somewhere else. I know when I signed for two years at Arsenal, it's a contract and I have to respect it."
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is understood to be a target for Chelsea
Wenger
added: "I have enough problems not to make an assessment on Chelsea's
problems. This is a little bit of a special situation when you look from
outside, it's a little bit of a different situation."We always wanted to keep Sanchez and we always hope, even now, that we can extend the contracts of Sanchez, Chamberlain, Ozil."
