7 Classic Clashes Between Leicester and Chelsea Ahead of Saturday's Encounter
Premier League champions Chelsea take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium in a somewhat rare three o'clock Saturday kick-off for the Blues, hoping for their third consecutive league win.
Leicester, meanwhile, will be looking to get back to winning ways after losing at Manchester United before the international break.
Here's a look at some of the classic meetings between the two most recent Premier League winners.
7. Chelsea 0-2 Leicester City (2000)
Newly-appointed Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri looked on from the stands as his new side were beaten by Leicester, a club that would play quite a role in his life in years to come.
It took just seven minutes for the visitors to find the net as Muzzy Izzet headed Neil Lennon's cross past Chelsea keeper Carlo Cudicini.
Stan Collymore ended the contest as he slid in to connect with a Steve Guppy pass and put the Foxes two goals to the good.
6. Chelsea 5-2 Leicester City (2012)
It had taken Fernando Torres 24 games to find the net before the first of his two in this FA Cup quarter-final drubbing of Leicester City at Stamford bridge.
Salomon Kalou, Gary Cahill and Raul Meireles were also on the scoresheet for the rampant Blues, while goals for Leicester's Jermaine Beckford and Ben Marshall were of little consequence.
The gulf in class was there for all to see between the two sides, with the free-spending hosts proving simply too good for the Championship Foxes.
5. Chelsea 4-3 Leicester City (2007)
A Frank Lampard hat-trick helped Chelsea see off Leicester to reach the last eight of the League Cup in 2007.
However, it wasn't as easy as one might assume as Leicester twice led the tie, threatening to stage a remarkable upset against one of England's biggest clubs.
Chelsea had to dig deep and managed to come out on top thanks to two goals in the final three minutes from Ukrainian misfit striker Andriy Shevchenko and England ace Lampard.
4. Leicester 2-1 Chelsea (2015)
Chelsea were a shadow of the side that lifted the Premier League title in 2015 when they visited shock championship chasers Leicester.
This was the game that ended Jose Mourinho's second reign as Chelsea manager and sent out a message that the Foxes were the real deal.
Goalscoring sensation Jamie Vardy put the hosts ahead before Riyad Mahrez added a delightful second, with a 77th minute Loic Remy goal proving to be nothing more than a consolation.
3. Chelsea 4-0 Leicester City (1994)
In the days before Russian money, the Blues took apart Leicester thanks to two goals in the first four minutes.
Jon Spencer, who made over 100 league appearances for Chelsea, opened the scoring in the first minute and netted another after Gavin Peacock's early effort.
Neil Shipperley, also of Crystal Palace and Wimbledon fame, wrapped up the contest with a strike from the bench in the second half.
2. Leicester City 2-2 Chelsea (1999)
In a cracking affair complete with unbelievable late drama at the since departed Filbert Street, Leicester and Chelsea played out a 2-2 draw.
Emile Heskey gave Leicester an early lead but Dennis Wise's goal just after half-time set up an enthralling finish.
Muzzy Izzet's penalty looked to have won the game for Leicester but Frank Sinclair's own goal just moments later ensured both sides left with a point.
1. Chelsea 2-2 Leicester City (1999)
Yet another exciting 2-2 draw between the two sides in the year of 1999, this time in London at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge.
The hosts were seemingly in cruise control going into the last 10 minutes thanks to goals from Gianfranco Zola and Dan Petrescu.
However, visitors Leicester had other ideas and snatched a point thanks to an 82nd minute own-goal from Michael Duberry and an equaliser from Steve Guppy.
If Saturday's game can live up to any of these clashes, we are all in for a treat.
Chelsea need to continue their progress over the last few weeks after suffering a shock opening day defeat to Burnley, while Craig Shakespeare's Leicester will want to add to the three points they have amassed from their first three games.
